This tip came from a customer question: constantly reshuffling Test Set assignments based on who’s available this week? Custom user groups let you assign work to a team instead and automated notifications handle the rest.
How it works:
Create a group in Project Settings → Users & Groups (name it something like “Regression Team” or “Mobile QA”), add members, and set permissions. Once saved, that group appears as an option in the Assigned to field across your project.
Assign a Test Set to the group instead of an individual. Anyone in that group with group notifications enabled will get an email with no manual reminders needed.
Why this matters:
You’re not stuck reshuffling work when someone’s out. A recurring regression cycle stays assigned to “Regression Team” and whoever’s covering that week picks it up. Cross-functional teams (like “Mobile QA”) get looped in automatically without you having to remember who’s currently on the roster.
Heads up:
Group notifications are opt-in per user: Project Settings → Personal → Group Notifications. Each team member decides individually whether to receive alerts, so a quick team conversation helps ensure the right people stay in the loop.
What about you?
Do you assign work to teams or individuals? If you use groups, what’s changed for your workflow?
